The Generation and Regeneration of Books
The 23rd annual conference of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading & Publishing (SHARP) will be held in Longueuil/Montreal (Canada), Tuesday, 7 July, to Friday, 10 July 2015.
Hosted by the Groupe de recherches et d’études sur le livre au Québec, the University of Sherbrooke, McGill University, and Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, SHARP 2015 is a bilingual event. The program includes lectures, keynote addresses, a digital projects showcase, roundtables, lightning papers presented by doctoral students, and a poster exhibition featuring the work of master’s students organized by the Canadian Association for the Study of Book Culture / l’Association canadienne pour l’étude de l’histoire du livre, as well as workshops and excursions.
Also planned are three keynote addresses, to be delivered by Leslie Howsam, Anthony Glinoer, and Robert Darnton, and a round table, “Inheriting the National Histories of the Book”, sponsored by the Association québécoise pour l’étude de l’imprimé and the Bibliographical Society of Canada / la Société bibliographique du Canada. A simultaneous translation service will be offered for these events.
The participants are also invited to the opening of the exhibition Between the Author and the Reader: The Archive.
The SHARP 2015 conference is open to the public upon payment of registration fees.
